Beach Party

She frowned some more. "People who like each other too kiss.." She settled down in the spacious backseat, and curled up into her sweater. "Everyone is acting so funny."
"Nabi, please, just go to sleep."

"And being in the military wasn't? Oh! I better not apply for an office job either, I might get a papercut!"

Tom just groaned. "Look... Maybe I should just call someone to pick me up..."

"Don't," Hiro shook his head. "I'll...drop you off at home or something."

"I didn't want you to do Military service either, Byron! I just got you back, and I don't want to lose you again, or see you get hurt. I..." She sighed, finally turning away and wrapping her arms around herself. This was so cliche and stupid! Why was she acting like this? he'd only been gone a year... a very long, stressful year, but still... "I missed you so much... I worried about you constantly."

He rubbed the back of his neck for a moment. "Well, with the way things ended, I honestly didn't think you would care that much..."

"I'm not stupid. I don't care if you say you can. You were drinking..."

"How could I not... You were really important to me for a really long time, and that doesn't change just because of our 'issues' that we had when we dated."

"... That's... Actually very mature of you." Did he sound surprised? He hope he didn't... He wasn't trying to be an asshole. "...It is good to see you again..." That fixed it, right?

She nodded, to no one in particular, and rubbed her arms in a vague attempt to warm herself up. "And... And I missed you, too..."

"I'm pretty sober now, so." He said, and looked over at him. "Besides, this beach is pretty much in the middle of no where, who knows how long it'll be until someone comes to pick you up."

"I'll take my chances..." Tom muttered, still avoiding eye contact.

Byron, unsure of what to say, took notice of Helen's arm rubbing. "... You cold?"

Nabi frowned from behind them. She wasn't alseep yet, though she was on the brink of falling asleep. "..Tom should just stay here..and let Hiro drive him home.~"

"... A bit," Considering it was a beach party, Helen hadn't really taken into account just how cold it'd be. It was nice earlier, but now she was freezing.
