Normally, Gil wasn't one for fast food, but he was so hungry. He'd volunteered to cover for another rookie while they went home to check on their kid, who was apparently home sick with the flu. So, now here Gil was rushing as much as he could, having lunch two hours late, and hoping no one at the station would miss him.

Kelti had an absolutely terrible day... Week actually. First, she'd blown the biggest case she'd ever worked on. That wouldn't even have bothered her that much, considering she was nearly positive the man she was defending was guilty of murder. However, she was terrified to disappoint her father, even though it was a little late for that now. She knew when she returned to work the next day that she would be fired. Not even her daddy's influence could save her from that fate. Kelti had been prepared for that. She had not however, been prepared to arrive home to find Cole, her husband of the last five years, leaving her. He hadn't even planned on telling her to her face! He was simply leaving her a note to say that he couldn't 'pretend' anymore. She was still fairly uncertain of what that meant. She and Cole had never been madly in love, but she'd thought that they were happy enough. Part of her wondered if it was because she hadn't been able to get pregnant thus far. Regardless, the man had clearly made up his mind.
Now, Kelti had finally picked up the last of her things from work, and was on the verge of tears. She'd keep it together though... She had to keep it together. Aaaand, of course, with perfect timing, her car began to smoke. She quickly pulled over in alarm. She literally knew nothing about cars, so there wasn't much she could do, but when she tried to start the engine again, it stalled. she let out a sigh and climbed out again, closing the door behind her. It didn't dawn on her until she heard the 'click'. She'd locked herself out of the car! "Nooooo!" the panic set in and in a moment of frustration, she kicked the side of it, denting it pretty good. There was no way today could get any worse.... That's when it started to rain.
